DISH’in it out!

Woah today has been an awesome day in Satellite Technology for me!  So this morning was like Christmas morning.  I jumped out of bed and ran to the TV, flipped it on and saw that there were 6 new channels!  Thanks Charlieclaus!  Here’s the skinny on the new channels:  MHD (MTV, VH1, CMT had a baby and called it MHD), Discovery HD (not HD Theater...think Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs in HD!!), TLC HD, Animal Planet HD, Science Channel HD, and Golf/Versus HD.  To be honest I’ve been watching MHD more than anything (surprised?) This must be Green Day hour.  I just watched their VH1 Storytellers performance in HD and now there’s some Green Day concert on.  Pretty sweet!  Oh but that’s only the start!  Wanna know more?  Find out after the jump.

OK so every 4 months or so there’s a Tech Chat on Dish Network (Channel 101).  They showcase new technology that’s on the burner.  It’s a show I never miss.  This Monday’s show featured the new programming as well as a new and improved satellite receiver.  Well it’s basically my current satellite receiver painted black with a 500gb hard drive in it but still...its a new gadget so I must have it!  I called Dish up around lunch time and it’s on its way to my TV right now.  They called it the “Farari of satellite receivers” on the Tech Chat.  I don’t know about all that but I want it none the less!

And if that wasn’t enough satellite geekdom, after work I stopped by Best Buy and picked up a 750gb external hard drive.  Why would I need that?  Well I was tipped off by the Tech Chat that external storage would be enabled on my satellite receiver today.  I just plugged it up and I’m currently moving all 6 Star Wars movies in HD over to the external hard drive so that I have more room to record to the receiver.  With all of these new channels, I’ll need it!

DirecTV may say that they’ll have 100 HD Channels by year’s end but actions speak louder than words.
