GO WARHAWKS!

Yesterday, ULM unveiled its new logo.  For the first time in many years, I can say that I’m impressed with something that ULM has done.  Now all we need is a better athletics department so that the logo will actually mean something.

Holy crap batman!

I had to post this before I left for Jamaica....
The results are in....for the spring 2004 semester, I have a....drumroll please....
3.25 GPA w000t!
I had the shock of my life....alright of the night...last night when I checked my grades online and found that I had gotten a B in Finance and an A in Organizational Behavior (Management). The rest were B’s. Kick ass! Go me! I’m one step closer to graduation. T minus 6 classes and counting!

Wednesday night I ate at a Hibachi restaurant for the first time. The experience and food were top notch. Check the moblog for a video of the chef showing off his utensil twirling skills. If you have a Hibachi restaurant nearby, I highly recommend dining there. It is a neat experience.

Tonight will mark the end of live programming on Tech TV from SanFrancisco. On Wednesday, Call For Help taped their final show ever (unless another network picks it up). Tonight The Screen Savers will broadcast their final live show from 650 Townsend. I clicked onto TechTV’s website earlier and this brought a tear to my eye. It’s hard to believe that an era has ended.
So long TechTV...and thanks for all the fish.

Before I go…

I GOT A B IN DATABASE!!!!!!!!  wooooohooooo!!!  Database at ULM is supposed to be the toughest class all CIS majors take.  So many people have taken this class and failed more than once.  Not to brag but my group received an A on our final project!  I busted my ass on this project and it paid off!  Kick ass!

The best I can tell, my GPA for this semester is a 2.75, 3 B’s and one C (in Finance...but hey, it’s passing).  My personal goal is to never let my semester GPA dip below 2.5, and it hasn’t since I switched from Computer Science to Computer Information Systems.  Of course, this semester I was nowhere near last semester’s Dean’s list status.  Ah well, at least I can say that I made the Dean’s list in college, if only once.

I said my goodbyes both on air and off today.  I’m leaving in the morning to attend my sister’s high school graduation.  Then I’m leaving again on Sunday for a weeklong retreat to Jamaca!  I’m taking my digital camera along so look for some nice pictures.  I’ll post when I return on Memorial Day.

School’s Out!!!

[Listening to: Wumpscut - Hang Him Higher]

It’s time to close the book on the spring semester at ULM.  Today I took my last final and finished my final project.  The final exam was a group evaluation.  The class was Organizational Behavior, a management course.  I found the course very informative.  It taught me a lot about how to manage people.  The final project was for my database class.  We had to build an Oracle database for a company, make transactions into that database, and then run queries on the data in the database.  It was tough but we finished it up in time for me to race home and catch Survivor.

Speaking of Survivor...did anyone besides me feel that tonight’s installment of Survivor was a waste of an hour’s programming on television?  We all knew Rupert was going to win the extra million...did we have to sit through a whole hour of retrospective clips just to see Jeff sign over a fake check to Rupert?  Tune in Friday night on FM 102 to hear me go off on this.

My weekend plans are shaping up nicely.  Friday Chris and Tiffany are going to be in town and have invited me to lunch.  Later Friday my boss is taking me....challenging me....to all I can eat crawfish.  The last time we went, the two of us put down a total of 15lbs.  We’re going to try to beat that this time around.  I may not make any sense on air because I plan on stuffing my face.  Saturday night I’ve been invited to Heath’s to watch him get drunk.  I know right now that’s what the “party” is going to end up being.  I have other plans.  I’m asking Amanda out to dinner at the Olive Garden for her birthday.  She told everyone that she wanted to go for her birthday and everyone forgot....except me.  In the event that she turns me down, I plan on watching Lewis Black:  Black on Broadway by myself (on HBO).  I’ll be sure to post and let you know how I liked Lewis Black (hey can I predict the future or what?!)

Tuesday I’m heading home for my sister’s high school graduation.  The following weekend I’m leaving for a week-long retreat to Jamaica.  At some point I plan on giving my internet existence that make-over that I’ve been hyping for some time now.  I also plan to improve my writing skills.  I read Wil Wheaton’s blog entry from yesterday and was amazed by the way he writes.  I may have to carry around a notebook to sketch ideas into.  It’s time for some well deserved rest and relaxation.

Finals!

[Listening to: A Perfect Circle - Magdalena]

There will be no updates this week because of Finals.  I didn’t really post last week either due to the massive amount of projects all becoming due at once.  With that behind me, I’m ready to take on FINALS 2003!  I have an air-shift on FM 102 Tuesday night from 7pm till midnight.  You can join the entire FM 102 staff (except for me) at the Mistletoe in Monroe Tuesday from 7 - 9pm.

Simi cool announcement: Starting Wednesday December 10th I will be producing Midday on AM 540 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  I may move into Tuesday and Thursday later on if I feel I can balance that with school.  So listen for me every MWF at 1pm on AM 540.  We have a pretty good reach so if you’re in north Louisiana, chances are that you’ll hear me at that amplitude on your radio.

I did a little shopping today.  I don’t have friends to go to the mall with so I do all of my shopping online.  I bought some nice long sleeve shirts including a Voodoo long sleeve that I passed up at the festival.  The weather wasn’t right for it in October.  Now I’m left wishing that I bought it.  I need new shoes as well.  I really like the DC VIRTUA ROYAL BLUE/BLACK shoes that PacSun has.  The only problem is that they only have them in size 11 and 13.  I wear a 12.  I may be forced to go to the PacSun in the mall and try on an 11 and see if it fits.

I’m looking to buy a 256mb USB Thumbdrive.  It needs to be USB 2.0.  Does anyone have suggestions on a durable, small drive that will fit on my keychain?  It needs to be fast, small, durable, and 256mb.

The winter break projects are beginning to pile up.  Here’s what I’ve managed to compile so far.

  • Develop 36 pictures from my new Canon G5 at one hour photo centers across Monroe to find if any can compete with 35mm quality prints.
  • Organize my MP3s and rip all of my cds to MP3 format.  Make various playlists for whatever mood I’m in.
  • Play and beat Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.
  • Beat Zelda Windwaker
  • Clean the apartment
  • Develop a php website for FM 102 using PHP-Nuke 7.0
  • Upgrade BrendanSpaar.com to PHP-Nuke 7.0 and Coppermine 1.2.1

more projects will be added after Finals.  Now I’m off to study for my Marketing and Speech finals.  Wish me luck!  I’ll post back here Friday.  There may be a few Audblog posts here and there.

OH YEA!  DO NOT FORGET TO WATCH THE VOODOO SPECIAL ON FUSE SUNDAY NIGHT AT 6PM CST.  It’s two hours of awesome footage from the Pollster Festival of the Year nominee Voodoo Music Experience.
