Juno is totally boss!
I just watched Juno courtesy of Netflix and can’t resist telling people to see this movie. I figured that I should give it a shot after hearing all of the buzz it got when it hit theaters late last year. The dialog in this film is some of the best I’ve heard since Kevin Smith’s early work (Mallrats, Chasing Amy). It’s a funny movie that has several emotional moments and some good music sprinkled throughout. Oh and Rainn Wilson plays a convenience store clerk. You should see the movie for that alone!
Best movie I’ve seen this year.
Celebrity Apprentice Prediction
I just realized that I haven’t picked a favorite for this year’s apprentice. Two years ago I picked the winner from the first episode. This year I had picked Gene Simmons but he only lasted 3 episodes. I still think he left on his own terms but either way he’s no longer on the show. Now that Bitch-a-rosa is out of the competition it’s starting to get good again. I swear, if that woman worked for me and continuously underperformed and made a hostile work environment, she wouldn’t last 3 seconds. I don’t see what America sees in her. She’s a cutthroat bitch if I ever saw one.
Moving on. Tonight Trump will pick the final two. I’m assuming he’ll bring back the rest of the group to work for these two and there will be one last big task. My pick for the final two? Trace Adkins and Piers Morgan. They have both been true performers on the show and have pimped their contacts for a lot of charity dough. It’s going to be a nice fight between them. I think the winner will ultimately be Piers because Trace is too nice and laid back. Piers has what it takes to get things done in NYC.
My other prediction is that the Apprentice will be back this fall for one last season before NBC is forced to fire Trump for low ratings. The show just isn’t what it used to be. The celebrity angle was cool but if next season is anything like last season then I’ll pass on that opportunity.
Don’t stop.
Well there you have it. The Sopranos is done. Finished. Dead to me. Swimming with the fishes. Anyone that knows me knows that I’m into all things mafia so it’s no big secret that I’m a big fan of this show. For those of you that haven’t seen the finale yet for whatever reason I’ll spare you the in-depth until after the jump. I will say that in the 48 hours since the episode aired I’ve read everything from hate to praise on the internets about the way that David Chase chose to end the series. I even read a blog where the writer suggested that everyone cancel their HBO subs because of it. At first I found the ending to be pretty lame but the more I think about it the more I realize that it was probably the best (and only) way to wack the series. If you didn’t like the ending, watch it again and you will appreciate it more, trust me. Click MORE to find out why.
55 inch limit on TVs for “The Big Game”
This Sports Illustrated article talks about how the NFL shut down a church’s S**** B*** party because they planned to show it on a projector. Apparently there’s a NFL “law” that limits the broadcast to one TV no bigger than 55 inches. Amazing! When I worked in radio we couldn’t utter the words “super bowl” on the air or in advertisements unless we had written consent from the NFL (aka paid them money). Just be advised if you’re planning to light up that 60 inch plasma this weekend, the NFL may throw down a penalty on your shindig.
I called it!
I’ve learned a very valuable lesson this TV watching season: Publish your analysis in your blog so that you can gloat about it later. I should have done this when I picked the winner of Apprentice 5 during its premiere episode. Back when I used to watch reality TV shows, I would select one candidate during the first episode who I thought had the best chance of winning and see how well I faired. I guess you could say it’s Reality Show Madness. This season I selected Sean to become The Donald’s 5th Apprentice. Maybe it was his sense of confidence or his British accent that swayed me during that first episode so many weeks ago but none-the-less, this charming bugger is in the final two against Lee. Read on for my analysis and be warned; next TV season I will post analysis of all the TV that I watch.
