Monroe bound!
About a year and a half after leaving the delightful community stuck smack dab in the middle of nowhere, I decided that I should return and see what has changed. Now I understand that Monroe is stuck in 1960s rural America and probably forever will be but there’s something about this backwards town that makes me want to return only to observe. Just by contacting several old acquaintances I’ve learned a lot about where people are in life in just one short year. Some have, like me, moved away and on to better things. Others have followed the destructive course that they were on when I knew them and have ended up just as I would have guessed. For those unfamiliar with Monroe, here are the top headlines from their local newspaper for this week:
WM man injured during argument over domino game
Child reported driving car in West Monroe
Ouachita River reopens today, closes again Wednesday
Deputies: Man tried to set his brother on fire
Woman accused of hitting husband with chair
Mud-hogging death leads to 2nd arrest
I can’t wait!
Radio: You’re dead to me
Actually, the iPod killed the radio star.
Whatever could it be?
Clues:
It may have been made in a sweat shop.
It has been known to cause permenant damage to the body.
It has reached cult like status, having changed culture as we know it.
What is it? Find out soon...post your guesses in the comments. (unless you’re one of the 3 people that I’ve told the answer to the riddle to)
GO WARHAWKS!
Yesterday, ULM unveiled its new logo. For the first time in many years, I can say that I’m impressed with something that ULM has done. Now all we need is a better athletics department so that the logo will actually mean something.
